The TARPAN agritourism guesthouse is located in Stare Masiewo, on the Masiewo Glade, in the very heart of the Białowieża Forest, close to Białowieża National Park. It is a place created for visitors looking for peace, close contact with nature, and the authentic atmosphere of an old forest village.

🏡 Stare Masiewo – a village where time slows down

Stare Masiewo is a village with a unique historical layout dating back to the late 17th century. Traditional wooden architecture dominates here, and characteristic wells with wooden cranes, along with old houses, create a distinctive atmosphere. It is one of the few places in the region where the original character of forest settlement has been preserved.

🐎 Our specialty – Hucul horses and riding

A unique attraction of TARPAN are Hucul horses – a breed developed in the Eastern Carpathians, descending from the tarpan. The first horses arrived from the Bieszczady Mountains, from the Hucul Horse Stud in Serednie Małe, and the next ones were already born in the Białowieża Forest area.

Huculs are small, calm and exceptionally balanced, which makes them ideal for beginners learning to ride. Their temperament also works perfectly for trail rides in natural forest conditions.

🌿 Horse keeping conditions

🔹 The horses spend the whole day on a 10-hectare meadow with ponds
🔹 In winter they receive hay in a feeder and small amounts of oats
🔹 In summer the diet is supplemented with apples and pears
🔹 The herd is kept in a calm, animal-friendly way, in harmony with nature’s rhythm

🧑‍🏫 Riding lessons and safety

Riding is led by a qualified recreation instructor specialised in horse riding.

🔹 Bareback riding is also possible
🔹 Participants are insured against accidents

🔹 Well-behaved dogs are accepted (by prior arrangement)
